'HONEY,...!'
It includes different works like:
'Honey, you've got something on the corner of your mouth.'
'Honey, your sock has a hole in it.'
'Honey, you have a grey hair.'
'Honey, you've got an eyelash in your eye.'
The 'Honey,...!' series is a ceramic project that Anna began in 2024 and is still growing.
The works playfully and humorously evoke the phenomenon experienced in long-term relationships, or even in friendships and family relationships, when instead of values and merits, the parties only notice and point out each other's minor or major flaws. The series is thus a critique of destructive criticism, the kind of criticism that often tends to present itself as caring.
Have you ever experienced something like this? Anna collected these examples from her own life or that of her friends. Now, at the Linkse Hobbies Weimar’s Wijkpaleis Edition, she will not only showcase her ceramics but also invite visitors to share their ‘Honey,...!’ sentences. Some of them may even be shaped as ceramics in the future and become part of this series, thus creating a dialogue between the viewer and the artist.
Moreover, we are drawing attention to the importance of words of appreciation.
Anna Szvák
Anna has been involved in ceramics since her childhood, and in the last 14 years she has further developed her skills in various institutions, including the training school for the Hungarian University of Fine Arts and the 'De VAK' art centre in Delft. In addition to ceramics, she also draws, paints, and illustrates
Her main focus of interest is observing societal patterns, with a particular emphasis on changes in women's roles and the transformations of the female body, not only from an aesthetic standpoint but also from a socio-cultural perspective. She researches how we use our bodies as tools for social interaction, self-expression, and achieving an external-internal balance.
Besides her art practice, she gives workshops. Her mission is to help people discover their visual language, express and process their feelings.
On September 13, she presented her ceramic series, Fossils of Feelings, and invited visitors to create their own emotion stones.
